When we first met with Stephanie and Jeff, she described the style of her reception, and asked me to take lots of pictures of the details – I’m so glad she did because I don’t think I could have resisted going picture crazy over this! Chevron, vintage vases, plates and perfectly selected English feeling flowers?! Yes please.

The reception site Stephanie originally booked ended up going out of business, which would normally be a nightmare, but she remained calm and ended up in an even more unique location, a vintage airplane hanger at the University Air Center. I can’t imagine this reception in a more perfect place. We really loved working with the planes on the tarmac right outside of the hanger, and I’m not going to lie, I edited the pictures while listening to the soundtrack from Top Gun.

Sparklers were not allowed due to the proximity to the planes, so Stephanie asked us what other fun options there were for night-time exits and we suggested glow sticks. Everyone loved dancing with the glow sticks. I have to give her guests a round of applause for their creative dance moves and ability to accessories with the glow sticks! Then, their send-off was pretty epic as they danced through a tunnel glowing friends cheering them on!

Christine & Trey : Orlando Wedding Photographers

I loved Christine and Trey’s wedding for so many reasons that I could make a really wordy blog post that few people would be interested in about each and every detail, but I’ll try to restrain myself!

When a friend of mine saw Trey and Christine’s engagement photos he said, “They REALLY look like they are in love!” Of course, I patted myself on the back and accepted this as a compliment to our awesome photography skills. However, after looking though all of their wedding photos, I have to agree with my friend. Their love really shines through in an exceptional way.

Their wedding was at Reunion Resort in Orlando, Florida and only included close friends and family. These families were so full of love. I loved the intimate moments we were able to capture due to the limited guest list. Somehow the day felt even more special. Christine’s mom sang as the groomsmen and Trey entered the ceremony, then Trey sang his heart out to Christine as she walked down the aisle.

But, my favorite thing about Trey and Christine is how laid back and happy-go-lucky they are. During the ring exchange, Christine realizes Trey’s ring does not fit his finger – most brides dread something like this happening, but Christine and Try simply laughed it off. For the rest of the day Trey happily wore his ring on his little finger. We always tell couples to just enjoy the things that don’t go as planned on wedding day, and this is a perfect example. It makes for some really memorable pictures, and who really cares which finger that ring is on anyway when you’re marrying someone you’re so in love with?!

Human Trafficking Project – July 2013

Hey Chic Shot followers!

At the beginning of this year, Jeremiah and I decided to take the month of July to use our photography to make a difference in the world. We researched many different issues, and organizations, then bumped into human trafficking. We had heard that slavery still exists in the world today, but until we heard the facts and heart-wrenching stories it was easy for us to ignore.

We found Love 146, an organization that combats child trafficking & exploitation, saw their awesome work rehabilitating children in Asia and admired their creative approach to raising awareness. We learned that they are launching a European branch and really need photography that reflects the stories of European victims to begin their branding.

Our contacts at Love 146 explained that many men, women and children are trafficked into Greece every day from surrounding impoverished countries such as Moldova, Romania and many African countries. Many of these victims end up working in brothels in Greece, and others are shipped further into Europe through Greece for equally grim fates.

We will be joining Love 146 for the month of July to work out of Athens to help them launch their European campaign. As you can imagine, there are costs involved in leaving your home and business for a month to fight human trafficking – so we have been raising money to enable us to make this sacrifice.

We have one week left to raise the remaining funds we need. If we do not raise the funds, the project does not happen. We are reaching out to you guys, our loyal fans, because you all believe in our work and are some of our best cheerleaders!
